Retail Access to Digital Payment Infrastructure Roundtable

  • VIRTUAL Mountain Standard Time (map)

This invitation-only payments follow-up looks at how Canadian retailers and crypto companies can reach the same everyday checkout infrastructure now taking hold in the United States.

In the U.S., platforms such as Block’s Square and Cash App and Shopify Payments have put Bitcoin and stablecoin acceptance inside existing merchant tools, with dollar settlement, low fees, and no separate crypto stack for the retailer. Canada still lacks comparable retail access: digital asset firms struggle to plug into payment rails, merchants face banking, RPA, and tax friction, and checkout remains largely closed to crypto and stablecoin payments. The session will compare those U.S. models with the Canadian operating reality and identify what would be required for regulated crypto companies and retailers to offer digital payments at the point of sale through the infrastructure merchants already use.
